SCHOOL MARKS HISTORIC MILESTONE

St. Mark’s ushered in the next chapter of excellence on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with the dedication of the Zierk Athletic Center and Albert G. Hill, Sr. Family Tennis Center and closed the chapter on what has been by far the largest single campus development project in school history.
Less than a month after the ribbon-cutting, the Zierk Athletic Center and Albert G. Hill, Sr. Family Tennis Center are bustling with activity, including basketball games, swim meets, tennis practices, and P.E. classes. Soon, crews will begin moving the security and physical plant staff into their new offices and workshops on the east side of the building. The second floor of Zierk will also be busy as athletic staff move into their new offices, athletes begin utilizing the team room, and the School hosts events in the Alumni Room and terrace.

With work on the Zierk Athletic Center finishing up, St. Mark's will soon shift its focus to the Ralph B. Rogers Natatorium and Winn Family Wrestling Center. Over the next few months, these spaces will be completely renovated, and the natatorium's pool will be filled in and turfed to create a new practice space that will benefit all teams.

In the meantime, students will continue to practice, compete, and thrive in the Zierk Athletic Center and Albert G. Hill, Sr. Family Tennis Center.

Hicks Gym

    • The varsity basketball team played – and won – its first game in Hicks Gym the day after the ribbon-cutting, with a 79-52 win over Trinity Valley. During the inaugural game, Luke Laczkowski ’25 made his 2,000th career point, on his way to breaking the School's all-time scoring record.

Levering Pool

    • St. Mark’s held its first swim meet in the Levering Pool on January 30, welcoming athletes from Hockaday, St. Stephen’s, and ESD. The varsity Lions swam some of their best times of the season and beat St. Stephen’s, 96 to 71.

Albert G. Hill, Sr. Family Tennis Center

    • As the spring season approaches, the tennis program is already making use of their six new courts.

Crow Atrium

    • Between games and practices, the Crow Atrium is bustling with activity.
